BarnTalk on Sunday July 28th with k.d. Lang and Jeffry Mitchell moderated by Steve Jensen and Alan Maskin

$375.00
sold out

The second BarnTalk of the season will be on Sunday July 28 and will include k.d. Lang and Jeffry Mitchell. Both k.d. and Jeffry are accomplished artists with distinct styles: one a singer, the other a visual artist. They will give us a look into the creative process; how they have produced beautiful work, what motivates them and how their careers have been rewarding to them. Jeffry will be speaking before lunch, k.d. in the afternoon.

k.d. Lang is a Canadian born singer, well known for her many albums including Ingénue, Shadowland and Hymns of the 49th Parallel. She has won four Grammy awards for her work during her career. Her most loved songs include Constant Cravings and her cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. She has been actively writing and performing since the early 1980s. She has graciously agreed to come to the farm to speak, this will not, however, be a singing performance.

k.d. will be in conversation with her long time manager Steve Jensen of Direct Management Group. In addition to representing k.d., Steve also represents Katy Perry and has worked with Tracy Chapman, the B-52s and Counting Crows, among many others.

Jeffry Mitchell is a visual artist working primarily in ceramics and watercolor. A member of the Seattle arts community for many years, he now resides in Portland and is represented by PDX gallery. His charming and joyful works oftentimes includes elefants and bears and bunnies. He is also the most charming and generous artist around. His perspective on the creative process and the making of art is guaranteed to be interesting and insightful.

Jeffry will be in conversation with Alan Maskin, principal and owner of OlsonKundig Architects and is well known for his work on the Space Needle renovation, the Frye art museum and the Bob Dylan Center.

A portion of this BarnTalk’s sales will be donated to the Vashon Food Bank.
